Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development
The Ministry is the lead social services provider in Uganda. The measures provided within its programme for the Promotion of Children and Youth (PCY) have proved extremely popular. Due the overwhelming demand for these interventions, YSA has joined the effort to reach more young people, more effectively. YSA and the ministry have shared experiences. We distribute material and conduct training on the ministry's behalf. We work closely with officers of the Department of Children and Youth.

unicef
YSA has been one of the implementing partners of UNICEF in Uganda for projects in Gulu, Kitgum, Pader and Lira districts. The project activities seek to improve the living conditions of children and youth in conflict areas. Communities should be strengthened and helped to cope with the emerging challenges in post conflict era in Northern Uganda. Also, issues of child protection and ensuring safe environments for children in and out of school are addressed. We work closely with the UNICEF programme managers in the field offices of all districts.

Horizont3000
On behalf of the Austrian organisation, Horizont3000, YSA conducted a project in the districts of Kitgum and Pader, which are also areas affected by conflict. The project sought to improve the living conditions of children and youth in these districts, while strengthening communities and preparing them for the post conflict situation. The project, ran for two years; from 2005 to 2007. Horizont3000 employed a technical advisor to work with YSA and to help monitor and ensure the project's smooth implementation.

International Rescue Committee (IRC)
In 2005, YSA was contracted by IRC to train a team of youth promoters at its field office in Kitgum District. After the successful completion of this assignment, we continue to work with IRC, providing supplementary support to the youth promoters and guiding them as they deliver effective services for the youth.

Plan Uganda
YSA has trained youth promoters and the leaders of youth centres on behalf of Plan Uganda, in Kamuli district. Following this assignement, we continue to provide supplementary services to Plan Uganda, both at the organisation's head office and its Kamuli branch. We are guiding youth leaders in the management of youth centres and encouraging them in the development of more productive activities for their members.

German Technical Cooperation (GTZ)
As a partner of the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development, for many years GTZ assisted in the administration of its Department of Youth through the PCY programme. GTZ has also been a significant partner for YSA; it was instrumental in our formation and has since shown strong commitment to the promotion of our organisation and capacity building of our staff. GTZ also engages YSA in training of youth social workers in various countries using the highly popular TWIGA Modules.YSA also undertakes assignments from GTZ to train youth social workers; in 2010, YSA was contracted by GTZ to train youth social workers in Sierraleone.

PEVOT
"PEVOT" is a GTZ-coordinated programme of cooperation between various German development organisations and the Ugandan Ministry of Education and Sport. It promotes vocational and technical education and training at all levels in Uganda. The programme is active in the field of local skills development and provides financial and material support to selected vocational institutions. YSA was contracted by PEVOT to train vocational instructors in the Mbale Community Polytechnic. Our training is helping the instructors to integrate our innovative methods into their own modular training, and to encourage their students to form youth groups.

JSW (Jugendsozialwerk Nordhausen e.V.)
JSW participated in the founding of YSA in 2004 as an implementing NGO for the ministry’s PCY activities. It supported the development of the TWIGA training modules – Animator, Organiser, Mediator, and Advisor (see Services). These modules are designed to spread skills and information through a multiplier effect. JSW provides training materials and skilled facilitators for the trainings. JSW also implements youth exchange programmes and deploys consultants to support the activities of YSA.

Y.E.A.H
YSA offered training services to Young Empowered and Healthy (YEAH) Sexual and Reproductive Health Initiative on the “Be A Man “campaign. The issues addressed are Alcohol and H.I.V/Aids, and Gender Based Violence (GBV) this is through the Training of Trainers (ToT) approach where YSA trainers train other trainers and these in turn roll out the skills through training other people as organized by other stakeholders.

War Child UK
YSA is implementing a War Child Uk/Comic Relief funded project that addresses issues like Child Protection, Child Rights advocacy and Child Rights Awareness in Pader District-Northern Uganda. The project activities mainly focus on the areas of rights, education and community protection for children and young people affected by conflict in northern Uganda.
The overall aim of the project is to bring about lasting, protective environments in the lives of war-affected children, young people and their communities.

Civil Society Fund (CSF) – a consortium of donors – USAID, DANIDA, DFID and IRISH AID
Starting January 2009, YSA, in partnership with the Civil Society Fund, implemented a project in Dokolo district aimed at improving service delivery to Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) and their households in Kwera Sub County, Dokolo District.
The overall goal of this project is to improve service delivery to OVCs in Dokolo district through building the capacities of OVC households, care givers and other community based initiatives for livelihood improvement and good health. The project has been extended and will enable YSA reach more OVC Households in Dokolo district.

Uganda Aids Commission (UAC)
YSA works closely with the Uganda AIDS Commission to ensure that its HIV/AIDS programming is inline with set guidelines, standards and priority areas in Uganda. The UAC has been very helpful in providing up to date data,information and technical support.

CORD
CORD is an international relief and development organisation working to transform lives in conflict. CORD, like YSA, seeks to build peace while focusing on livelihoods and education, and mainstream HIV, gender, and the environment into all it’s work. CORD has worked with many people affected by conflict in numerous countries throughout Africa and Asia
YSA is working in partnership with CORD UK in the areas of organisational development, human resource development support and capacity building. This partnership is aimed at improving peace building work with children and young people through organisational learning and reflective practice.

Rainbow House of Hope – Uganda
YSA partners with Rainbow House of Hope – Uganda to undertake exchange learning and volunteer hosting. YSA and RHH have a common background of youth programming and this has enabled more involvement of young people in Sport and recreation in addressing issues that affect them.

Accountants for International Development – AfID
A f I D is a new social enterprise and specialist voluntary service organisation placing experienced accounting professionals with established non-governmental organisations (NGOs) across Africa and Asia. AfID provides charities and their partners a completely free and unique coaching and mentoring programme, designed specifically to strengthen the financial management and planning capabilities of small grassroot organisations; street child centres, enterprise initiatives, micro-finance schemes, gender & disability support groups, conservation projects, vocational training centres and community health clinics - organisations that are doing amazing work to tackle extreme poverty and inequality in their communities but sadly have little or no access to these vital skills and services. YSA is one of the beneficiaries of this generous support and we heartily commend the AfID teams for their technical support.

KFW – German Development Bank
In 2006, YSA was contracted trained instructors from different private vocational institutions. Were trained to incorporate the TWIGA modules into their mainstream courses in their respective institutions for replication and multiplication of TWIGA modules.
